Composition

Each 1 ml contains:

  • Doxycycline (hyclate) – 100 mg/ml

Pharmaceutical Form: Oral solution packed in a 100 ml polyethylene bottle.

Pharmacological Properties

Doxalin is an antibacterial drug belonging to the tetracycline group. It exhibits bacteriostatic activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms, certain protozoa, and mycoplasmas, including:

Escherichia coli, Haemophilus spp., Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Chlamydia spp., Listeria spp., Leptospira spp., Mycoplasma spp.

The mechanism of action is based on inhibition of enzymes responsible for catalyzing the binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to ribosomal acceptors, resulting in disruption of the interaction between aminoacyl transfer RNA and messenger RNA, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis within microbial cells.

Indications for Use

Doxalin is indicated for the treatment of respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases of bacterial origin in swine and poultry, including:

  • Salmonellosis
  • Colibacillosis
  • Enteritis
  • Enzootic pneumonia
  • Pasteurellosis
  • Mycoplasmosis
  • Other infections caused by doxycycline-sensitive microorganisms

Dosage and Administration

The product is administered orally, individually or in groups, through drinking water.

Poultry

  • 0.5–1 ml per 1 liter of drinking water
  • Equivalent to 50–100 mg doxycycline per liter of drinking water
  • Treatment duration: 3–5 days

Swine

  • 1 ml per 10 kg body weight
  • Equivalent to 10 mg doxycycline per kg body weight
  • Once daily for 5 days

During treatment, animals should receive only medicated drinking water. The prepared Doxalin solution should be used within 24 hours and freshly prepared every day.

Contraindications

Do not use:

  • In animals with hypersensitivity to tetracyclines
  • In cases of renal insufficiency
  • During pregnancy and lactation
  • In laying hens producing eggs for human consumption

Adverse Reactions

Animals treated with Doxalin should be protected from direct sunlight, as doxycycline may increase skin photosensitivity. Prolonged treatment may cause intestinal disturbances.

Withdrawal Period

Animal products intended for human consumption may be used after:

  • Poultry meat: 6 days after the last administration
  • Swine meat: 10 days after the last administration

Storage Conditions

Store in a dry, cool place protected from light at temperatures between 0°C and 25°C.

Keep out of reach of children.

  • 3 years from the date of manufacture
  • 28 days after first opening
