Description

Oxy-Max 200 LA is a broad-spectrum antibacterial injectable solution containing oxytetracycline. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as mycoplasmas, chlamydiae, rickettsiae, spirochetes, and other microorganisms sensitive to oxytetracycline. It is used for the treatment of infectious diseases in cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs.

Composition

Each 1 ml injectable solution contains:

  • Oxytetracycline Dihydrate – 200 mg

Target Species

Cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs.

Indications for Use

The product is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to oxytetracycline, including:

  • Bronchopneumonia

  • Colibacillosis

  • Salmonellosis

  • Mastitis

  • Postpartum infections

  • Metritis

  • Respiratory infections

  • Gastrointestinal infections

  • Dermatological infections

  • Genitourinary infections

  • Septicemia

  • Secondary bacterial infections

  • Infected wounds

  • Hoof infections

  • Other infectious diseases

Dosage and Administration

For intramuscular injection.

Cattle, Sheep, Goats, and Pigs

  • 0.5–1 ml per 10 kg body weight

  • (10–20 mg oxytetracycline per kg body weight)

  • Single administration

  • If necessary, treatment may be repeated after 48 hours

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines or any component of the product.

Adverse Reactions

No adverse reactions are generally observed when the product is used at the recommended dosage.

In rare cases, the following may occur:

  • Renal tubular necrosis

  • Hepatotoxicity

  • Impaired bone and tooth development in young animals

  • Azotemia

  • Metabolic acidosis

  • Electrolyte imbalance

Special Warnings

  • Use with caution in young animals as tooth discoloration may occur.

  • Do not administer more than:

    • 20 ml per injection site in cattle;

    • 10 ml per injection site in pigs;

    • 5 ml per injection site in calves, sheep, and goats.

  • Use is not recommended in dogs, cats, or horses.

  • Use with caution in animals with impaired liver or kidney function.

Interactions with Other Medicinal Products

  • Do not use concurrently with corticosteroids.

  • Do not use concurrently with estrogens.

  • Concurrent administration with penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics is not recommended.

Pregnancy and Lactation

The use of oxytetracycline during pregnancy and during tooth development in newborn animals may cause discoloration of teeth.

Overdose

Oxytetracycline has a wide safety margin, and overdose is unlikely to cause toxic reactions.

Withdrawal Period

  • Meat: 28 days

  • Milk: 7 days

Milk obtained during treatment should be heat-treated before being used as animal feed.

Presentation

Injectable solution supplied in a Type II glass bottle sealed with a butyl rubber stopper, aluminum cap, and tamper-evident plastic flip-off cap. Packed in a cardboard box.

Storage Conditions

  • Store protected from light.

  • Store below 30°C.

  • Keep out of reach of children.

Shelf life: 3 years.
