Dosage form: Injection suspension used in veterinary.

Therapeutic group: Systemic anti-bacterial agent, antibiotic of cephalosporin group.

Target species: cattle, swine.

Composition: 1 ml contains: ceftivil hydrochloride, equivalent to 50mg ceftiofur.

Indications:

Ceftivil injection suspension is used for treatment of infections of respiratory tract and the soft tissue in the cattle and swine that are caused by the bacteria sensitive to ceftiofur.

It is used for treatment of infectious diseases and pneumonia in cattle, such as:

- Respiratory infections caused by  Mannheimia sp (Mannheimia haemolytica), Pasteurella multocida, Heamophillus somnus;

- Acute interdigital necrobacillosis (pododermatitis) that is caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacterio des-melaninogenicus;

- Acute puerperal metritis caused by E.coli, Arconobacterium pyogenes and Fusobacterium necrophorum.

It is used for treatment of bacterial respiratory diseases in swine that are associated with  Mannheimia hemoytica, Actinobacillus peuropneumoniae and Streptococcussuis.

Presentation: 50ml, 100ml and 250ml colored glass bottles and carton boxes.

Rules of usage and dosage

Pharmacological dose:

Cattle  –  medicine is administered via intramuscular or subcutaneous routes, 1mg/kg body weight
Swine – 3 mg/kg body weight via intramuscular route once a day; Treatment duration is 3 days.

Practical dose

Cattle  –  via intramuscular or subcutaneous routes, 1ml/50 kg body weight;

Swine –  1 ml/16 kg body weight, once a day, treatment duration is 3 days. In cases when no results can be obtained, the treatment may be continued for 2 more days.

When application of larger volumes is needed, the total dose must be divided into volumes of 15ml.

Shake the bottle strongly before use in order to bring the suspension into homogenous state.

Intravenous administration is contraindicated.

Storage conditions: it is kept in a place that is protected from light, at a room temperature (15-25°С).

Shelf life: 2 years.
