Chlortetracycline Hydrochloride

Formulation: Suspension: Spray for external use, used in veterinary medicine.

Pharmacotherapeutic Group: Tetracycline group antibiotic for dermatological use.

Target Species: Cattle, small cattle, pigs, horses, dogs, cats.

Composition:

100 ml contains: Chlortetracycline Hydrochloride 2.15 g.

Excipients: Dye (blue), magnesium chloride, 96% ethanol.

Form: Aerosol in a 335 ml aluminum can containing 100 ml of product.

Pharmacological Properties:

Apoderm is a combined antimicrobial product whose effect is due to the interaction of its components with microbial cells. Chlortetracycline hydrochloride is active against both gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia spp., Shigella spp., Salmonella spp., Enterobacter spp., Pasteurella spp., Klebsiella spp., Leptospira spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Fusobacterium spp., Clostridium spp., Mycoplasma spp., Chlamydia spp., Haemophilus spp., Bacillus spp., Actinomyces bovis, Bordetella spp., Brucella spp., Treponema spp., Rickettsia spp.. The antibacterial action mechanism is based on the blockade of membrane proteins (ribosome function) and RNA synthesis suppression.

Indications for Use:

Used for treating various infectious skin lesions in agricultural and small domestic animals (dogs, cats):

  • Wounds (including surgical, traumatic), dermatitis, eczema, difficult-to-heal wounds.
  • Horn, hoof, and inter-hoof infections (hoof rot).
  • Treatment of open abscesses and ulcers.

Dosage and Administration:

Before application, clean the affected area of dirt and remove dead tissue. Shake the aerosol can well. Apply the product from a distance of 15-20 cm. For minor injuries, spray for 1-2 seconds once or twice a day. For horn and hoof injuries, spray twice with a 30-second interval, twice a day.

Treatment Duration:
The treatment lasts from 3 to 8 days, depending on the severity of the damage and its healing dynamics, determined by the treating veterinarian.

After spraying, do not allow the animal to lick the treated area for 5 minutes.

Contraindications:
Not for use in animals sensitive to chlortetracycline.

Do not use for treating the udder of lactating cows when milk is intended for human consumption.

Side Effects:
When used at recommended doses, no side effects are expected. Localized skin irritation is very rare.

Overdose:
As the product is for local use, intoxication due to overdosing is practically impossible.

Special Instructions:
In case of side effects or ineffective treatment, consult a veterinarian.
Use in well-ventilated areas. If it comes into contact with skin or mucous membranes, wash with plenty of water.
Do not spray near an open flame, or disassemble or puncture the can.

Withdrawal Period:
Since the product is not absorbed into the bloodstream, there are no restrictions on slaughtering animals for meat or using milk for human consumption.

Storage Conditions:
Store in a dry, light-protected area away from direct sunlight. Do not expose the can to temperatures exceeding 45°C.
Do not store in the refrigerator or freezer.
