Inactivated Emulsified Vaccine Against Pasteurellosis for Cattle (Large Ruminants)
Vaccine composition: Strain Pasteurella multocida 796, 5254 – inactivated culture in oil adjuvant (Montanide ISA 70 or 206).
Description: A homogenous white emulsion. Slight phase separation during storage is acceptable and easily re-emulsified by shaking. Sterile-filled in glass vials, sealed with rubber stoppers and metal caps. Available in 50 ml, 100 ml, and 200 ml volumes.
Biological properties
The vaccine induces specific antibody production in cattle against the pasteurellosis pathogen.
Each 1 ml contains 6 billion microbial cells of Pasteurella. The vaccine is safe and only mildly reactogenic.
Immunity develops within 10–15 days after vaccination and lasts for at least 12 months.
Usage instructions
Used in herds with unreliable or high risk of pasteurellosis.
Before use, shake the vial and warm it in a water bath to 35–37 °C. Use on the day of opening; heat remaining vaccine to sterilize before disposal.
Cattle aged from 2 months and older are immunized. Initial revaccination takes place 6 months after the primary dose; subsequent boosters every 11 months. Before vaccination, all animals must be thoroughly inspected and have their temperature taken. Animals showing signs of pasteurellosis or suspected illness should be isolated and treated with pasteurellosis serum. Those showing no disease signs within 10 days after serum treatment can be vaccinated.
Immunize once intramuscularly into the middle third of the neck, regardless of age or weight, with a dose of 3 ml (1.5 ml on each side of the neck). Light massage at the injection site is recommended.
Maintain strict aseptic and antiseptic protocols. Sterilize all syringes and needles by boiling before use. Use a separate needle for each animal. Disinfect the injection site with an approved disinfectant.
Observe vaccinated animals clinically for 10 days. Within 24–36 hours post–vaccination, mild fever (0.5–1.5 °C), lethargy, reduced feed intake, and minor swelling at the injection site may occur.
Butchering and milk use for food are permitted without restrictions after vaccination.
