Target species:

Cattle (dairy cows), sheep and goats.

Composition:

10 ml contains: Cloxacillin (Benzatin) - 500 mg.

Features:

Cloxacillin benzathine is a penicillin derivative, an isoxazolyl penicillin, generally characterized by bactericidal activity due to its inhibitory effect on bacterial cell wall synthesis.

Indications:

The drug is used for mastitis caused by the following microorganisms during the dry season:

- Gram-positive microorganisms: Staphylococcus aureus (including penicillin-resistant strains), Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus uberis, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, Corynebacterium pyogenes, Clostridium perfringens, Clostridium anacillustudo, Bacillus anthracis.

- Gram-negative microorganisms: Neisseria spp.

Contraindications:

Do not use in animals hypersensitive to penicillin. Use with caution in animals allergic to cephalosporins. Do not use in lactating females.

Method of use, dosage:

The drug is administered intracisternally.

Cattle (dairy cows): one syringe (10 ml) is injected into each quarter of the udder as a single dose.

Sheep and goats: half of the above dose.

Use of the drug before the beginning of the dry season

The drug is administered immediately after the beginning of the dry season. Before administration of the drug, milk is expressed from all four quarters of the breast, the fingers are treated with a disinfectant solution. After the introduction of the drug, a light massage of the scalp is performed in order to better distribute the drug.

Meat: 28 days.

Milk: Do not use in animals less than 4 weeks dry to avoid residues in milk.

Storage conditions:

The drug is kept out of the reach of children.

The drug is stored from 5 to 25ºC.

Overdose:

When used according to the instructions, an overdose of the drug is unlikely.
