Composition and Pharmacological Properties:

Each 490 mg tablet contains:

• Active ingredient: Megestrol acetate – 5.0 mg
• Excipients: Lactose, calcium stearate, powdered sugar, starch, flavoring agent

Megestrol acetate is a synthetic progestagen. This hormone’s ability to suppress sexual desire and ovulation is used to prevent estrus, delay its onset, regulate sexual behavior, and prevent unwanted offspring. Full reproductive function recovery occurs within 2-3 months after stopping the medication.

Indications for Use:

• Used to delay or interrupt estrus in female dogs and cats.
• Does not negatively affect pregnancy.
• In male dogs and cats, it reduces sexual activity and corrects associated behavioral issues.

Dosage:

Administer orally with food or directly into the mouth.

Cats:

• To calm sexual excitement – 1 tablet daily for 3-5 days.
• To prevent estrus – 1 tablet every 10-14 days (estrus resumes 14 days after stopping).
• To stop estrus – 1 tablet daily for 3-5 days.
• As a contraceptive – 3 tablets within 24 hours after mating.

Dogs:

• To prevent estrus – 1 tablet per 10 kg of body weight every 14 days (estrus resumes after 21 days).
• To stop estrus – 1 tablet per 10 kg body weight for 7 days.
• As a contraceptive – 2 tablets per 5 kg body weight daily for 2 days after mating.

Male Dogs and Cats:

• To calm sexual excitement – 1 tablet per 10 kg of body weight daily for 5 days.

Contraindications:

• Do not use in animals with reproductive system diseases (e.g., pyometra, metritis, endometritis), mammary gland tumors, or diabetes.
• Not for pregnant or lactating animals.
• Not recommended for young females before their first estrus or for anestrus therapy in cases of cycle disorders.

Storage Conditions:

Store in a dry, dark place, out of reach of children and animals, at 4-25°C.
