Cladaxxa® Chewable Tablets

Oral tablets for dogs and cats
Active ingredients: Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid


Composition

Each Cladaxxa® chewable tablet contains:

  • Amoxicillin trihydrate

  • Clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate)

Available in three dosages:

  • Cladaxxa® 40 mg/10 mg: 40 mg Amoxicillin + 10 mg Clavulanic Acid

  • Cladaxxa® 200 mg/50 mg: 200 mg Amoxicillin + 50 mg Clavulanic Acid

  • Cladaxxa® 400 mg/100 mg: 400 mg Amoxicillin + 100 mg Clavulanic Acid

Pharmacotherapeutic group: Penicillins in combinations
Description: Pink, round, non-uniform tablets with a score line on one side.


Indications

Cladaxxa® chewable tablets are used in dogs and cats to treat bacterial infections such as:

  • Skin diseases (including deep and superficial pyoderma)

  • Urinary tract infections

  • Bacterial respiratory infections (upper and lower airways)

  • Bacterial enteritis


Contraindications

  • Do not use in animals hypersensitive to β-lactam antibiotics.

  • Not suitable for rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, chinchillas, or other small herbivores.


Side Effects

  • Typically well tolerated if used as directed.

  • In cases of allergic reactions, discontinue use and administer antihistamines or symptomatic therapy.

  • Dogs and cats


Dosage and Administration

  • Administer orally, either by hand or mixed with food.

  • Food intake does not affect absorption.

  • Standard dose: 12.5 mg/kg (total active ingredients) twice daily

  • Severe infections (e.g., respiratory): 25 mg/kg twice daily

  • Duration: 5–7 days, extendable to 10–28 days for chronic or deep infections under veterinary supervision


Special Precautions

  • Do not miss doses; if missed, administer as soon as possible and continue as instructed.

  • Wear gloves; avoid eating, drinking, or smoking during administration. Wash hands after use.

  • If contact with skin or mucous membranes occurs, rinse with water.

  • Individuals allergic to penicillins should avoid contact. Seek medical attention if accidental ingestion occurs.

Use during pregnancy and lactation: Only under veterinary supervision.


Overdose

  • No known symptoms; monitor and consult a veterinarian.


Interactions

  • Do not use concurrently with bacteriostatic antibiotics.


Withdrawal Period

  • Not for use in food-producing animals or horses.


Shelf Life

  • 3 years from production date

  • Unused half-tablets must be returned to the blister and used within 12 hours

  • Do not use after expiry date


Packaging

  • 40/10 mg and 200/50 mg: 10 tablets per blister, boxes of 1 or 10

  • 400/100 mg: 6 tablets per blister, boxes of 2 or 10

  • Each box includes an instruction leaflet


Storage

  • Store in sealed packaging, at 0°C to 25°C, away from direct sunlight and food
