Imidacloprid, Permethrin.
Insectocaricidal solution for external use.
Target species: Dog
Composition:
1 ml of Ataxa® contains: imidacloprid 100 mg and permethrin 500 mg as active substances.
Excipients: dimethyl sulfoxide, N-methylpyrrolidone, medium chain triglycerides, citric acid and butylated hydroxytoluene.
The appearance is a clear liquid, from yellow to light brown.
Pharmacotherapeutic group:
Insectocaricidal means in combinations. ATC vet code: QP53AC54
Pharmacological properties:
Imidacloprid and permethrin included in the preparation have a synergistic effect, provide insecticidal, acaricidal and repellent action.
The drug Ataxa® is effective against dog-parasitic fleas (Ctenocephalides canis, Ctenocephalides felis), fur-eaters (Trichodectes canis), ixodid ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Ixodes ricinus, Dermacentor reticulatus) in the imaginal, preimaginal and larval stages of development, which provide protection to animals from mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti, Culex pipiens), from the attack of flies (Stomoxys calcitrans) and mosquitoes (Phlebotomus papatasi, Phlebotomus perniciosus). Reduces the risks of possible transmission of transmissible infectious diseases to animals, such as borreliosis, rickettsiosis, leishmaniasis, as well as canine ehrlichiosis (Ehrlichia canis) and others.
Permethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid that has an insecticidal, acaricidal and repellent effect, the mechanism of which is based on the blocking of the transmission of nerve impulses, which causes movement coordination disorders, paralysis and death of ectoparasites.
Imidacloprid belongs to the chloronicotinyl insecticides, which interact with the acetylcholine receptors of arthropods, disrupting the transmission of nerve impulses, which leads to the death of insects. Acts as an arthropod nerve ganglion activator. Imidacloprid also enhances the insecticidal effect of permethrin.
After using the drug Ataxa®, its active components, practically without absorption into the systemic blood, are quickly distributed on the body surface and remain on the epidermis and fur, having a long (up to 4 weeks) contact insecticidal effect.
Ataxa®, depending on the degree of impact on the body, belongs to moderately dangerous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76); It has no local irritant, resorptive-toxic, embryotoxic, teratogenic, mutagenic or sensitizing effects when applied to the skin in recommended doses.
The drug is toxic to cats, bees, as well as fish and other aquatic organisms.
Indications for use:
The drug Ataxa® is used to destroy lice, fleas and ticks that are parasitic on dogs, as well as to protect animals from their attacks.
Contraindications
Contraindication to the use of the drug is individual hypersensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug. The use of the drug is not allowed for animals suffering from infectious diseases or in the recovery period.
Side effects, complications:
When the drug Ataxa® is used in accordance with this instruction, side effects or complications are usually not observed. In rare cases, individual skin reactions (redness, itching) are possible, which disappear spontaneously within 1-4 days and do not require the use of drugs.
If allergic reactions have developed in an animal sensitive to the components of the drug, the drug should be thoroughly washed with soap and a large amount of running water. If necessary, antihistaminic and symptomatic drugs should be prescribed.
Dosage for each type, route and method of administration:
The drug is applied once on the dry, undamaged skin of the dog ("spot-on"). Before first use, remove the protective cap from the pipette and place it vertically, pierce the protective cover of the pipette nose (put the cap on the back), then remove the cover again.
The preparation is applied to the animal's fur, directly on the skin, in the area between the rings at the base of the neck. Do not apply the product to wet or damaged skin and do not allow animals to ingest the product
When processing large animals, the contents of the pipettes are applied to the skin along the spine in 3-4 places, from the nose to the tail.
Depending on the weight of the animal, the drug Ataxa® is used in different packages with the doses indicated in the table:
Dog's weight | Labeling of Ataxa® pipettes | Drug dose (nominal volume of the pipette), ml |
Up to 4kg | For dogs weighing up to 4 kg |
0,4 |
from 4 to 10 kg | For dogs weighing 4 to 10 kg |
1,0 |
From 10 to 25 kg | For dogs weighing 10 to 25 kg |

More than 40 kg | Use a combination of pipettes with different packaging |
In the treatment of dogs weighing more than 40 kg, the drug is used at the rate of 0.1 ml/kg of body weight, using a combination of pipettes of different packaging.
After treatment, the death of parasitic insects on the animal occurs within 12 hours, the death or fall of ixodode mites in 48 hours. The repellent action of the drug against fleas, lice, fur-eaters, blood-sucking two-winged insects, as well as ixodid ticks lasts up to 4 weeks after a single treatment of the animal. Repeated treatment is carried out once a month as needed.
In case of failure to meet the deadlines for repeated treatment, the use of the drug should be resumed according to the same dose and schedule.
